Quezon City, Philippines, 8 March 2017 – ESCA president Dr Ernesto de Castro was a guest lecturer at the EDQ Lecture Series held at the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) main campus in Manila last 1 March 2017.
Before the civil engineering students of TIP, Dr de Castro talked about Building Information Modeling or BIM that is now transforming the way the global architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) sector is now designing, building and managing infrastructures.
Dr de Castro spoke about the need to transform the curriculum in civil engineering schools to include new and emerging technologies like BIM, which is shaping the future of infrastructure development in order to produce the knowledge professionals the world requires.
As part of the initiative Dr de Castro started as the 2016 Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) National President, he is promoting “Transparency and Quality” in constructed projects, and BIM can a be a tool for designers, builders and owners to attain this.
Dr de Castro is also working to make the Philippines a Center of Excellence for Engineering Services Outsourcing by 2022, and industry collaboration with the academe plays an essential role.
